“My idea of a great vacation is a good workout!”
–Joyce Carlisle, Founder of Stonehouse Fitness
Joyce Carlisle’s mission is to help women experience the joy, well-being and health that come from a lifestyle that includes regular exercise. In one-on-one sessions in a COVID-free environment in her outdoor private studio, she guides women through a variety of exercise programs that lead them to lifestyles of wellness and balance. Her clients feel a strong connection to her because she understands the needs of a woman’s body. Her ability to listen carefully makes it possible for her to tailor a program to the exact needs of each individual.
Exercise and nutrition have always played a huge role in Joyce’s life: as a child she organized the neighborhood into teams for softball and kickball, and was an excellent gymnast. As an adult she stays healthy and balanced with activities ranging from hiking, biking and strength training to outrigger canoeing in the ocean from the Santa Barbara Harbor with the Stonehouse Paddlers.
As a guest speaker, she speaks from experience. Her goal is to educate her audiences on topics related to exercise, nutrition and healthy lifestyles.
Joyce’s journey…Joyce credits her attention to nutrition and exercise with keeping her healthy and energized throughout her busy career. As a Realtor, she sold hundreds of Santa Barbara ranches along the coast from Carpinteria to Gaviota. As well as spending time outdoors, she shared her knowledge, experience and enthusiasm for the vast beauty of our area. She wrote and published “The Avocado Lover’s Cookbook” and taught Adult Ed classes through the UC system on publishing.
Joyce is a graduate of Santa Barbara Business College and Women’s Economic Ventures (WEV). She is trained in CPR. She is certified by the National Strength and Conditioning Association; by the National Academy of Sports Medicine as a Women’s Fitness Specialist and Corrective Exercise Specialist; by the Professional Fitness Institute; by the National Safety Council; and by the American Heart Association. She trained through the Arthritis Foundation and studied with the American College of Sports Medicine. This rigorous background gives her a keen understanding of the psychological, physiological and sociological implications of exercise for women.
With Joyce’s support, you can choose to take charge of your health.
